Adolescent & Young Adult Care

Supporting Health, Confidence, and Independence

As kids grow into teens and young adults, their healthcare needs change — and so does the way they experience the world.
At Health Care for Children, we’re here to guide them through every milestone, challenge, and transition with respect, privacy, and compassion.

From school performance and emotional health to sports injuries, menstrual concerns, and preventive care, our team provides thoughtful, age-appropriate support for tweens, teens, and young adults up to age 22.

Our Approach to Teen & Young Adult Health

Adolescence can be exciting — and overwhelming.
Our providers create a welcoming, judgment-free space where teens feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and taking an active role in their own health.

We emphasize:

  • Respect and confidentiality
  • Clear communication
  • Evidence-based medical care
  • Emotional and behavioral support
  • Guidance for healthy, confident transitions into adulthood

We support both teens and parents during this stage — everyone deserves to feel heard and supported.

Whether it’s a small question or a big milestone, we’re here to help.

Emotional & Behavioral Support

Adolescence is a time of major emotional growth.
We help teens navigate stress, social pressures, and mental health concerns with care and compassion.

We can help with:

  • Anxiety, overthinking, or school stress
  • Mood swings or irritability
  • Social challenges or friendship issues
  • Healthy coping skills
  • Screening for anxiety, depression, and ADHD
  • Referrals for counseling or behavioral therapy if needed

Your teen’s emotional health matters — and we’re proud to support their journey.

Physical Health & Activities

For active teens, health and safety matter more than ever.
We provide:

  • Annual checkups
  • Sports physicals
  • Injury evaluation
  • Guidance on training, hydration, and safe exercise

If your teen participates in school athletics, we complete all required MSHSAA/KSHSAA paperwork during their visit.

Transitioning to Adult Care

We support teens as they begin to take more responsibility for their health.
Our team helps guide:

  • Understanding medications
  • Managing chronic conditions
  • Making informed decisions
  • Transitioning to adult providers when appropriate

Building confidence now helps create healthy adults later.
