What Happens at a Well-Child Visit
Each visit is designed to help your child thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. Depending on age, your child’s checkup may include:
- Height, weight, and growth tracking
- Head circumference (infants and toddlers)
- Developmental and behavioral screenings
- Immunizations and vaccine updates
- Nutrition and sleep guidance
- Safety, school, and emotional-wellness discussions
Tip: Bring your child’s vaccination record and any school or sports forms that need signatures.
Important Insurance Note
During a well-child visit, your child’s provider focuses on growth, development, preventive care, and routine guidance.
If your child is also sick or needs evaluation for a new concern on the same day, insurance companies often treat that as a separate “sick visit” — even if it happens during the same appointment. Unfortunately, most plans will not cover both services in full on the same day, even though our providers are happy to care for your child’s needs.
To help you avoid unexpected charges, we schedule well-child and sick visits separately whenever possible.
If your child becomes ill before a scheduled well visit, please call our office. We’ll help you reschedule or adjust the appointment type to save you time and costs.
